The Years Fly By…

“The years rush past, as every older woman will tell the young mothers who complain that they still have two little ones at home and it seems like forever before they will all be in school.  Oh no, they say, time flies — enjoy them while they’re young — they grow up so fast…

The mothers agree that indeed the years do fly.  It’s the days that don’t.  The hours, minutes of a single day sometimes just stop.  And a mother finds herself standing in the middle of a room wondering.  Wondering.  Years fly.  Of course they do.  But a mother can gag on a day.”

In Your Dreams!!

So Aiden just yelled out from the bathroom to me, “Mooooooom! I really want a TV in my room!”

First of all, WHY are you yelling this to me as you are in the bathroom? Where did this come from? That was very random. Second of all, I don’t believe in children having TVs in their room, so it’s just not going to happen. No offense to anyone who lets their kids have a TV in their bedroom, but it’s just not me. My kids watch too much TV as it is, and if they had a TV in their room, they’d never even get out of bed. It would be wake up, turn on the TV, sit their like zombies all day, go to sleep. It would be like that every single day. Except for when they want to play video games.

I’m probably not setting a very good example as Ches and I have a TV in our room. But we don’t have the cable hooked up in there. Just the XBox, so we can play games or we can watch a movie. I’m guessing the kids just see a TV in our room and wonder why they can’t have one in theirs. I’ll just tell them my stock answer for cases like this: When you are all grown up and have a place of your own, you can have a TV in your bedroom. You can have your house however you like it. But it’s not going to happen while you are still a kid and living in my house.

I hope he doesn’t ask for his own computer anytime soon (in the next 15 years!!). That one will be a little harder to say no to!

We Interrupt This Blog For An Important Announcement

An important announcement from the Phoenix Household:

MR. UNIVERSE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED A JOB AT AN AREA HIGH SCHOOL.

Yay! Thank you all for the prayers and good vibes sent our way. Ches will be teaching concert, marching, and jazz bands as well as one string orchestra. This job is still a bit far from where we live, so we will be relocating to be closer to the high school. Thankfully, that part of town is quite inexpensive to live in. It’s a really new area still, and tons and tons of things are being built up. It’s exciting to know that we’ll be a part of something relatively new!

You may now return to your regularly scheduled blogging. Come back to The Chocolate Phoenix for more updates in the next few days.
