Aiden’s Latest Videos

Here are a couple of vidoes to show you what Aiden has been up to. In the first vidoe, Aiden is playing the part of “Mouse #1″ in Cinderella. It ws also his last day of preschool.

This next one is Aiden and Parker showing off. Sorry it’s so darrk. It wasn’t like that on the camera, so I don’t know why it did it this way. At least you can hear their cute little voices really well! :D

Sing, Sing, Sing!

One of the biggest things that annoyed me about my mom when I was growing up was that it seemed like she would sing at the drop of a hat.  Singing in the car is one thing.  Singing when we are fighting and she’s trying to get us to stop is another.  There is a reason that I hate the song “Love at Home”.  When you are in the midst of an argument with your brother, you don’t want to hear you mom burst out loudly with “There is beauty all around/ When there’s love at home./ There is joy in every sound/ when there’s love at home”.  Or how about “Let us oft speak kind words to each other…”?  Man, I hated that.

Like I said, though, we would sing in the car.  I know more silly songs that are basically camping songs, but we sang them on long car rides.  I still love “Down By the Bay” and am trying to teach it to my kids.  My mom always sang to us.  We each had our own, special lullaby (mine was “They Call the Wind Mariah” from Paint Your Wagon, but she changed the words to fit me:  “We call our girl, Sariah”.  Isn’t that awesome??).  If Mom didn’t know a song that she could at least change the words to, she would make up a song.  Hence Erica’s kind of odd lullaby.  Hey Erica, remember how Vinnie, Lura, and I would try to sing it to you in different stules?  Our rap was awesome, I have to say! :)

My third year at Ricks, I was living with a bunch of musicians.  There was me, the music major flute player; Mere the music major harp player (until she moved out after the first semester to go on her mission.  Then Lura moved in.); Ashleigh the piano player; Shelly the vocalist; and Erica (not my sister Erica) the music major vocalist (soprano…  With the attitude to go with it.  heh.  Loved that girl!!).  There there was Jolene.  The English major.  Who didn’t play an instrument.  Who didn’t sing.  She was a champion barrel racer who was taking French and taught us some phrase about a monkey and how to say “just add water” to our packets of hot cider.

Until Lura moved in, Jolene was totally outnumbered.  Well, even when Lura was living with us, they were both outnumbered, but at least then Jolene had Lura!  Anyway…

Jolene often told people she lived in a Disney Apartment.  She even announced it to our ward!  She said we were a Disney Apartment because no matter what was happeneing, one of us would start singing a song and everyone would join in.  It didn’t matter what the subject was.  We could find a song.  She tested us one day as we were all walking home from church.  She’d shout out a word and we would would have to come up with an actual song… just like that… right then.  It was pretty funny.  I thought it was just my being influenced by living with so many other musicians, because I honestly don’t sing that much.  I hate the sound of my voice and I don’t think I sing well at ALL.  I hated taking Aural Skills because I had to sing in front of people.  Ugh!!!  I hated teaching lessons for my Elementary Music Methods class because I had to sing not just in front of little kids we were practicing on, but in front of my classmates.  I often wished for a large hole to swallow me up.  So once I was married and didn’t have all these girls around me constantly singing, I thought that was that.

This morning, as I went to the back yard to turn on the sprinklers,  I saw a garbage truck driving through the back alley way.  On the side of the truck are the words “Roll Out The Barrell!”  Once I saw that, I suddenly had the beginning strains to a polka running through my head.  I know a few polkas (“In heaven there is no beeeeeer/ That’s why we drink it heeeeere/ And when we’re gone from heeeeeeere/ Our friends will be drinking all our beeeeeeer!”), but of course the one stuck in my head is from Bear in the Big Blue House… “Pig in a Polk Polka”.  Nice.  I see things and they remind me of one thing, which leads to another, then another, then a song is stuck in my head for several days.

Admit it, Sariah.  You’re turning into your mother, and soon you’ll be singing “Let us of speak kind words to each other” to your children!!

Jobs, Teaching, Affirmation

1.  My husband has TWO interviews set up for this week, and a possible one more for either this week or next.  Oh, and his name is getting around.  People we don’t know have been discussing him as possible teachers for some schools to people we do know, and word gets around, so we’ve heard a couple of good things yesterday.  YAY!

2.  My older son teaching my baby how to clap his hands.  SO stinkin’ cute!

3.  People reading my blog, understanding the point I’m trying to make, and then leaving wonderful comments.  You like me!  You really like me!!

Happy Wednesday.  What are your beautiful things?

The Grass is Always Greener…

My sister, Lura, graduated on Saturday with her Master’s degree.  She was actually the very first graduate of 2007 at SDSU.  They did the graduate students first, the MFAs first, and being in alphabetical order, Lura was first.  Very cool! :)

Congratulations, Lura.  I am immensely proud of you!

Lura got her degree by going to school full-time while she got married, sent her husband to Iraq, and had two babies.  Is this girl not amazing or what??

Lura now has more degrees than I.  Yup, I’m a little jealous.  I am not planning on going to graduate school.  Ever.  I would like to, but I just don’t think it’s in the cards for me.  Erica is still in the midst of her undergraduate studies, but she has big plans so she will have more advanced degrees than I.  I’ll be proud of each of her accomplishments, but in the back of my head will be all sorts of what-ifs.

What if I hadn’t goofed off and skipped my English Composition class so much?  What if I had changed my major to journalism like I thought of doing?  What if I decided not to return to Ricks that third year and go on my mission, thereby not getting married to Ches?  What if I had gone to a different school than Idaho to finish my undergrad studies?  Where would I be today?  Would I have more degrees, a career, my own place?  Would I be married and have children?  Would I be a newspaper writer or a freelance writer?

Really, it all doesn’t matter.  I DID go back to Ricks, I DIDN’T go on a mission, I DID marry Ches, I DIDN’T change my major, I DIDN’T put in the effort in some of my classes that I should have, I DID get my degree from Idaho, and I DID have three beautiful children that I stay home with.

In some alternate universe, I am single, living in Seattle or Chicago with a great little apartment, I write for magazines and am working on my novel, I travel a lot, I date occasionally, and I am so happy to be an aunt, sister, daughter, and friend.  But in that alternate universe, I am wondering what my life would have been like if I had done all the things that I have done in this universe.  I am truely happy to have made the decisions I did (okay, maybe not the skipping class one, but still…) and to have the life I have.  On days where I wonder and get envious of my sisters or my friends, I have to remind myself that they worked hard to get what they did, and I’m sure they are plagues with the same kinds of questions as I am.

The grass may well be greener on the other side of the fence, but I’m on this side, and if I look around, I’ll see it’s pretty stinkin’ green here, too.

Wha–?? I Was Tagged???

I’ve been reading everyone’s blogs. I swear I have. I’ve read everyone’s 7 Random Things and thought to myself, “I didn’t get tagged this time.” and I wasn’t sure whether to be happy or offended. Then I read the other Sariah’s 7 Random Things and she mentioned that both of us were mentioned by GoofyJ. I went back, and sho’ ’nuff! I dun gone and been tagged! Silly me. SO… here are 7 Random Things About Me:

1. As much as I hate long winters and soooooooo much snow and small towns where everyone knows everything about everyone, since moving here to Phoenix I have actually found myself missing living in Preston, Idaho. I know. I can hardly believe it, too.

2. I have hazel colored eyes, which I love because hardly anybody has hazel eyes. I used to hate the lack of mention of beautiful, hazel eyes in TV, movies, or songs, but now Kelly Clarkson has her song, “These Hazel Eyes”, and it’s great. The song is great. Kelly Clarkson is great. Hazel eyes in general are not just great, they are AWESOME.

3. I have just agreed to be a contributing writer on the “Movies Noone Should See” blog. Well, I offered and they accepted. Anyway, I get to write mostly about reality TV, but can write whatever about anything I want. Kewl!!!!

4. Some of my color guard girls made bracelets out of embroidery floss for the three of them and for me. We each got to pick our favorite color. Of course, they did not inform me that the colors would be bright, neon, but whatever. Anyway, the girls wrapped the bracelet around my wrist, tied it off, and I wear it all the time now. It will come off when it breaks off, I guess.

5. My mom and I have eerily similar handwriting. I actually have to concentrate on what I’m doing whenever I write (or print… same thing, really) in order to make it not look like my mom’s. Isn’t that wierd?

6. Asparagus used to be one of my favorite veggies, but then, just over 6 years ago, I got pregnant for the first time. Right before (like days, I think) I started to get really sick I had made this huge meal for Valentine’s Day. One of the side dishes was this really yummy asparagus wreath. However, with the kind of morning sickness I had (Al, I totally feel ya!!), I was puking everything, all day and night long. Certain foods that I once loved became dreaded. A month later I had a miscarraige and once the surgery was over, the morning sickness went away. I am pretty much back to normal with all of the other foods, but to this day I can’t even look at a picture of asparagus without feeling like I’m going to gag. It’s sad because I actually do miss it.

7. I have never been to band camp. It’s wierd to hear about these bands that go away for band camp because in my high school we met at the school every day for a few weeks before school started to get ready for marching band. Band camp was considered that music camp that you went to as an individual musician. The high school I am teaching guard at this year, however, has the entire band load busses and go to Colorado for a week. The kids are waaaaay excited to go, and that has rubbed off on me. I get to go to band camp! Finally!! I couldn’t afford it when I was a teenager, and I never won a scholorship. So, starting in August, you may hear me say, “One time, at band camp…” an aweful lot. I just won’t have any stories involving my flute, so please don’t ask. (I hope most of you don’t actually get that joke. That was a disgusting movie!)

K, there you go! I tag Erica, Laural, Kris, and Kenyon.

Living in the Reality World

Everyone who reads my blog regularly — or at least has read my blog for some time now — knows that I am a reality TV junkie. I can’t help it. I love the stuff and I don’t care just how dumb it can get. I get all sorts of joy watching people make complete fools out of themselves in front of millions of people. I also get joy out of those who show great triumphs, but we don’t get to make fun of them. That isn’t fun. It’s fun to make fun of the idiots.

Sunday night was the season finale of Survivor: Fiji. Ches and I have been watching Survivor since the first season, although we didn’t watch all of the Africa season because it was just plain horrible. Not fun to watch. You could tell no one there was having any fun, either. Anyway, Fiji was a good season. I think we saw the best upset in a Tribal Council in Survivor history when Edgardo was surprisingly (to him and the “Four Horsemen”) voted out. Earl and Yao just grinned and I just laughed and laughed. That was some great stuff. This season we also saw a lot of people falling. I think the producers of Survivor make it a requirement to have at least one Challenge be blindfolded just so we can watch the contestants run into poles, each other, and almost thin air, too. My favorite fall this season would have to be the most replayed one of all: when Michelle was shouting out directions to a blindfolded Yao Man and somehow she fell off the side of her platform. Ches can’t stop laughing for several minutes everytime that clip is aired.

I was very happy to have Earl win Survivor. I loved the way he played the game. He is one smart guy, and I was surprised to find out by watching the Reunion Aftershow that Earl has never really watched Survivor, doesn’t know the game that well, and didn’t even know he was going to be on the show until 2 days before he flew out to Fiji. That man played that game!! If he didn’t win, I was not happy with the idea of one of the other two in the finals to be the winner. Cassandra seems sweet and helpful and all, but she didn’t deserve to be there! The goal of Survivor is to “out wit, out play, out last” (no, I don’t remember the correct order), and all she did was out last others by riding on the coattails of the right alliance and staying under the radar. There was no wit about it, there was no playing the game. She never screwed anyone over (so why some people on the jury seemed so angry at her and so hell-bent to make her a bad guy is beyond me), but she just didn’t really play. Dreamz is a complete idiot as far as I’m concerned. I loved that Yao described him as having genius moments, but no discipline or education in which to harness those moments and get the right, good use out of them. Well, that’s basically what he said. Anyway, I’m upset that Dreamz seems to think that by constantly saying “It’s just a game” that he is justified in accepting the truck from Yao Man and not living up to his word. Yes, it’s just a game, but when the game is done, YOU have the truck that someone else won, Dreamz. YOU have a vehicle worth 60-something thousand dollars, and YOU don’t even have the decency to be upfront about what you consider to be a betrayal or a lie. Dreamz just tried to find excuses and talk his way out of everything. Drove. Me. Crazy. So, Yao would have won, which would have been great because he is probably one of the greatest contestants in Survivor history — he’s smart, friendly, athletic, caring, honest, respectful… I swear there is nothing in the world wrong with this guy! No, I don’t know him personally, and I’m sure I could be way off because I’ve only watched him on TV, but that’s okay. No one has to agree with me. That’s why this is MY blog, right? :)

If I were the Ford Motor Company, I think it would be a great marketing strategy to give Yao Man a truck. Yao let Dreamz keep the truck because Yao, unlike Dreamz, is a man of his word. Yao was voted off, so not only did he not get the prize that he DID win, but he didn’t even have a shot for the million dollars or the $500,000 second place prize (I wonder what they are giving now that it’s a final three, not final two. Hmmmm.). At anyrate, it is very clear that Yao is one of the most popular Survivor players ever (others would be Rupert, Colby, Stefanie… okay, well, those are the likeable ones at least). If Ford had given him a truck and said “We think you deserve one, too” and made a huge publicity stunt out of surprising him at the reunion show or something, I have to wonder how that would affect new Ford sales. I’m sure it couldn’t hurt!!

Anyway, congrats to Earl on the big win and on getting every single vote from the jury. That was a first. Earl asked not for the sympathy vote or the anything like that. He asked for the respect vote, and I think he not only completely earned it, but that is why he got every vote. He got the respect vote. (everyone can now give your happy sigh: awwwwww.)

Last week was the season finale of The Amazing Race: All Stars. Now this is my favorite reality show. I love it because I truely believe I can compete. I hope to one day. I think I have a grat shot at winning, if I compete with my husband. We’d make a great team, what with his amazing sense of direction, my inability to make a decision, my short temper, his stubbornness, and our drive to make a better life for our family. How many Mormons/married couple/band teachers would make that good of TV, huh??? :D

I am sad to say that Ches and I missed watching the TAR finale because we were on a bus with about 30 exhausted 8th graders, on our way home from Disneyland. I know who won and all, so I’ve been trying to imagine what the episode would have been like:

Beauty Queen 1: Oh, we’re so beautiful. We are going to win this because we are so beautiful and because we are female and because we’re blonde.

Beauty Queen 2:Yeah. And we’re so hot, no one else can stand it. Who needs brains when you have this kind of a face, really??

BQ !: Oh, but we would NEVER admit to using our beauty to win things. Even though we do.  All the time.

BQ 2:  Because we are so beautiful, and that’s all that matters.  We’re best friends.

BQ 1:  Except that you’re getting on my nerves.  I’m so pretty.

BQ 2:  Stop talking.  I don’t want to be friends anymore.  I’m way prettier.  Are you even a real blonde?

BQ 1:  Too bad we came in first so many times and now we have all these trips we have to share.

BQ 2:  Well, since I’m really beautiful, I’m sure no one would mind if you just give them to me.  I did just get married after all.

BQ 1:  What?  You did?  When did that happen?  I would have been a prettier bride, I bet.

Mirna (in her really odd, fake accent that she puts on only when speaking to people in foreign countries): Oh, my friend, we will win, yes we will. We will win because Charla is a small person, and we can use that to our advantage. Ah, yes, my friend. How do you read, by the way, because I tend to forget. Or I only read a part of the clue. And then I yell at my cousin for not doing as much. Did I mention that I am a lawyer? Charla, you are not doing your part! You MUST work harder! Why do I have to do everything??

Charla (in her really odd, fake, but not as thick accent that she puts on only when speaking to people in foreign countries): Yell at me some more, Mirna. It’s not getting through. Yes, my friend, we will win because my cousin is a rude, annoying twit who pushes to the front of lines, then cries at the thought that anyone else can be a little rude.  Excuse me, my friend, we were here and so of course that means we must win.

Eric:  Yeah, we’re gonna win.  I’m a chavanistic jerk who doesn’t know anything about my girlfriend other than the fact that she has a great rack.  Oh and the Guidos are gay and I hate them.  But I swear I’m not a homophobe.

Danielle (laughing):  Ha ha, Eric, you’re so lame.  Yeah, I’m pretty hot, huh.  But I think our relationshi–

Eric:  Shut up, Danielle.  You don’t know what you’re talking about.  But look at her boobs, folks!  Wow!

Danielle (crying):  Why are you being like this?  I’m working so hard and you are just so mean to me and when you star–

Eric:  Hey, my frat boy lifestyle gets me all the babes I want.  I should’ve gone out with your friend.  But you have the nicer rack.  Seriously.  So we’ll win.  Oh, and I hate Danny and Ozwald.  They were my friends, but they aren’t.  And they’re gay.  But not as annoyingly gay as the Guidos.  Hey, have you guys seen Danielle’s big chest?  It’s amazing.

Danielle (still crying):  I want to go home.

Rob:  Oh, are people still watching this show?  Ambuh and I were eliminated weeks ago.

Amber:  Ha ha.  Oh, I know, right.  Ha ha.  Who would want to watch it now?

Rob:  Red Sox RULE!

Phil:  Geez, the egos on these people.  They aren’t real stars.  This is reality TV.  And if one more person tries to hug or kiss me…

Have you guys heard about the big spoiler on The Bachelor:  An Officer and A Gentleman?? Now, I don’t actually watch this show, and I never have, so whatever I say here can only be taken with a grain of salt.  However, first of all… How cheesey is the title this season?  Sheesh, just because he’s a Marine.

Anyrate, I guess the girl who gets (got?  Is it over now?) picked in the end let the cat out of the bag early and told that she is the one he picked.  Wow.  I would NOT want to be her accountant or lawyer as they go through the contract and try to get her out of paying whatever fines/damages by not keeping her big mouth shut!

Actually, that’s all I really had to say about The Bachelor because I just don’t care about a bunch of women throwing themselves at a guy on TV.  Maybe if they started having immunity challenges for the women on the Bachelor than involved blindfolds and them running into things really hard I would find it more interesting.  Nah.  I’ll just go watch some America’s Funniest Home Videos.  Real people there!!

Next time, I will talk about America’s Next Top Model, The Hills, and perhaps a game show or two.

Dallin and Disney: The Review

I finally get a chance to tell you guys about Dallin’s birthday and my recent trip to Disneyland.  I just uploaded a ton of pictures on Flickr, some of which you can see if you aren’t one of my contacts, but a lot more to see if you are.

Dallin’s birthday was fun.  We ended up only having two kids over… Aiden’s friend Carter, and Carter’s little brother, Gage.  They brought Dallin a present, and poor little Dallin worships both Aiden and Carter.  He follows the older boys around and just wants to play with them, but they always tell him to go away and shut the door in his face.  He’s just too young for them, I guess.  It makes me sad for Dallin.  He really, really likes Carter.  However, Carter is Aiden’s friend.  Oh, well.

So anyway… back to his birthday.  Earlier in the day we had picked up Ches’ mom from the airport, so it was fun for the boys to have their Oma here.  I ran out of time in doing everything, and ended up decorating the cake at the last minute.  I had to borrow some mini loaf pans, and they were really mini.  Next time (if I make this cake again, that is), I will use a larger mini loaf pan.  If you wanted a really big cake, I bet you could use regular size loafs.  That would be yummy.  Anyway, Dallin really likes trains, so I made him a choo-choo train cake.  Here it is:

Choo-chooooo!!!

After that, Dallin opened presents. He was really excited about all the Spiderman stuff that Grandma and Uncle Richard sent him from Ohio (the boys can’t wait to use the cool sprinkler!!); he loves all the bubbles from Oma; Carter brought an awesome fish puzzle with magnents in the fish so you can pick them up with the accompanying fishing rod; and from us he got a bubble lawn mower (it was waaay on sale at Toys-R-Us! I love getting good deals) and a train set (from Ikea… it’s sooooo fun!). So he’s pretty happy with all the stuff from his birthday.

On Friday morning, Ches and I set out with his 8th grade band for their annual trip to Disneyland. I was pretty excited to go. Oma was with the boys, so Ches and I decided to count this as our anniversary trip. No kids = we can ride all the rides we want! Wo-hoo!

The trip started out a little slow. The bus was late picking us up, then there was an air conditioning problem (it didn’t work!), so we had to switch busses in Phoenix. We were running 2 1/2 hours late. All the kids on the bus were sooooo anxious to get to Disneyland. Luckily, after switching busses (with some kind of Nazis running the show at the bus depot! Grrrr.) we had no other major problems. We got to Annaheim only about an hour and a half late (yay for making up time!), and once we were all checked into the hotel, we walked over to Disneyland. Ches and I rode some rides and did a little window shopping, and had to buy me a jacket (I didn’t think it would get cold!! I only brought really light-weight t-shirts and capris to wear!). It’s a really cool jacket: black with silver pirate pictures. I’m all about the pirates. I really wanted to get something with Tinkerbell on it, but nothing really grabbed me.

Waaaaay back in college, Julia’s mother-in-law (before she was Julia’s mother-in-law… I only knew her as Paul’s mom at that time. heh) met me and commented that I reminded her of Tinkerbell. Paul started calling me Tink, and I got a little obsessed with being Tinkerbell. Not a lot, just a little. I want to be Tink for Halloween each year, but it never works out. Oh, well. So that’s why I wanted something with Tink on it, but I couldn’t help but love all the Pirates gear. Thanks a lot, Cara. I love Pirate Ninjas, too. Wish they had those.

Back to Disney.

We walked around a lot, and met up with the kids at 11 pm and headed back to the hotel. I crashed so hard. It was really nice to be able to sleep without one (or two… or ALL) of my sons waking me at some point during the night! :) Now, I have to tell you that I am an idiot. I brought one pair of sandals to wear. That’s it as far as shoes go. Sandals are NOT the smart thing to wear. Not by a long-shot. My feet were killing me after just a few hours in the park. I had an entire day and a half to go!!

Saturday morning we got up, had breakfast, and went straight to Disneyland when it opened at 9 am. Most of the kids went to California Adventure, but Ches and I wanted to hit a few things at Disneyland before it got too busy (what with it being a Saturday, Cinco de Mayo, and Disneyland’s 51st birthday!!). As we walked through the park, we saw a bunch of cameras all set up. They were doing a taping for the Oprah Winfrey Show at 10 am! Cool!! We didn’t want to stick around and wait for that, though, so we kept going to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain. We heard a sound check coming from where they were doing the taping, and this big voice said, “And now, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome… Oprah Winfrey!!!!” Some people thought it was really the introduction and these girls started to scream and run towards the taping area. It was so funny.

As we waited in line for Space Mountain, we looked over at the winding line and who was there, but some friends of ours from Nevada!! Our good friend Dan (we got to be friends with Dan and his wife Amy) is the guy I worked with back in Reno. He was there with his band and choir and the orchestra from his school. In line with Dan was this guy Paul, who Ches went to school with in Reno. Paul is finishing up his student teaching with Dan this semester, so he was also on the trip. It was so crazy! What are the chances, really? So we hung out with Dan and Paul all day. It's A Small World

I won’t give you the complete low-down, but let’s just say it was an extremely fun day! We walked around a lot, did some shopping (oh, how I wish I were a millionaire! I found things I would have bought for each and every one of you! I’m not even kidding about that!) and went on a lot of rides. My favorites are Indiana Jones, Tower of Terror, Soaring Over California, the Matterhorn, and Space Mountain. Pirates of the Carribean used to be one of my favorites, but I’m not too impressed with the recent changes. Yes, having Jack Sparrow in there is quite cool, as well as Davy Jones in the mist, but the whole ride seemed so much more tame than it used to be even just a few years ago. I was pretty disappointed. Oh, well. Oh yeah, I really liked the Grizzly Run ride at CA Adventure, even if I was the one who got wet the most out of the eight people in the raft!!

At the end of the day on Saturday, my feet, legs, and lower back were killing me. I didn’t think I could walk! I was in so much pain. Again, I went to bed and completely crashed. I don’t think I woke up for anything!
What a Cute Couple!

Sunday morning we were back in the parks, but only for a couple of hours. Ches and I finished up our souvenier shopping at that time, and we also got the coolest picture of the two of us from Star Tours. I’ll get Ches to scan it in. Seriously, you have to see this. To have me describe it won’t do it justice. It is THAT awesome!

At 11 am we were able to attend a recording session with Ches’ band. What happens is the Disney people take us through Toon Town, and then “backstage”. We went into a recording studio, and it was all set up so the kids could experience what it is like and what it takes to be a studio musician for Disney. I was really, really excited for this because one of my dreams is to be a studio musician, but I had no idea what it was really like. Well, Disney has clinicians to work with the groups, and ours, this amazing band guy named Bob, was just awesome. He really knows his stuff, and the kids seemed to really take to him. He was engaging, funny, informative, and just plain good at what he does. More than good. I don’t know. I could go on forever. Anyway, the kids sightread three pieces and got to record them. They did music for some short scenes from Beauty and the Beast, Atlantis, and The Emperor’s New Groove. What an amazing experience it was!

After the recording session, we took the kids out to lunch, then headed home. It was a great trip: the kids were really good, the chaperones were fun, the bus driver was an interesting (in a good way) guy (he’s a huge jazzer!), and it seemed like everything was a success. I still couldn’t walk (do you know how hard it is to walk up and down the stairs to a charter bus when you are in that kind of pain! Ugh!), but after a good night’s sleep and a lot of rest the next day (thanks again, Oma!!!), I recovered. Mostly. I think I’m still recovering!

I missed my kids so much. Everything we did reminded me of the kids. We were constantly saying to each other, “Aiden would love this!” or “Don’t you think this is perfect for Dallin?” Since Aiden will be 5 (almost 6) next year, we think we will take him on the trip with us. It will be soooooo much fun! :) The kids seemed to do really well with Oma, except that Parker refused to drink anything. Luckily, he’d still eat food. Just wouldn’t drink. I nursed him not long after we got home, and he was one happy baby! I don’t plan on leaving any of my babies for a while, though. It’s good to get a vacation, but I missed them a lot.

2.  Celebrating Dallin’s 2nd birthday.  We sure love this kid. He’s funny and cute and quite the mischevious little monster and we couldn’t imagine our family without him.

3.  Having my mother in law have the opportunity to come help us out and to celebrate today with us.

Happy Wednesday!  It’s gonna be a great day here in the Phoenix household.
